DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
The genesis of 'The Last Black Dinosaur' is rooted in an intimate place of mourning. Migrating from Jamaica to the United States, set in motion a new level of introspection on matters of identity, belonging, and a palpable sense of 'otherness.'
It became clear that the label 'other' was not solely attached to my distinctive accent; it was also inextricably tied to the color of my skin. For the first time, I began to perceive the insidious ubiquity of black fear. This ushered in a profound awareness of the biases that accompany melanin. The experience of being black in Jamaica and being black in America felt like two distinct worlds.
Nonetheless, a common thread thrived - the inescapable fear of how black bodies are and have always been mischaracterized and mishandled by white authority. Through my film, I aspire to challenge our viewers to look beyond their own racial lenses and watch how trauma can transcend generations and the confines of time and space.

DIRECTOR
DANIELLE NEBELIUK
Danielle Nebeliuk is a Jamaican-born, Atlanta-based writer and director whose work explores identity, ancestry, and the emotional echoes we carry forward. Her short film, The Last Black Dinosaur, is a layered meditation on belonging, otherness, and Black fear.
She got her start when she pitched and directed a short film for Sesame Street, which premiered on HBO. She then spent six years in the Atlanta film industry, with credits on major productions like Lovecraft Country, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Banker, working across roles from 2nd AD to Production Coordinator. Her stories explore how identity and belonging are shaped by history, migration, and the misperceptions that follow Black bodies across borders.
